this morning #730.
this morning, he scooped up his son & took off on a run far across the field, far afield from how his ex expected him to react. it was clear that, on so many levels, nothing had changed from his high school days. when he finally stopped for a sec & looked back to see just how much distance he’d created between them, he realized that she hadn’t even bothered to chase after them. he couldn’t see the house from here. his son’s tiny fingers dug into his shoulder. after that sprint, it made sense. he rubbed his son’s back & ran his fingers through his wispy hair. this got him to loosen his grip a little bit. as he took in the confusion in his boy’s eyes, he knew that he couldn’t run any further than this.
