this morning #729.

this morning, for the sixtieth straight sunday, she brought her daughter over to mom’s for a weekend tradition that was once super helpful but was now partially a bore & mostly a chore. at this point, this weekend visit was mostly about mom’s happiness. for most of her childhood, mom’s maternal instincts were never quite there. now that she finally had a daughter of her own & mom was a grandma, those instincts finally kicked in. she tried to think of this maturation as a “better late than never” situation but just couldn’t get there. three sundays later, after a sappy sermon about self-reliance, she finally leveled with her. from here on out, one sunday a month would just have to be enough.
