this morning #697.

this morning, the lights had continued to dim to the point where all he was left with was a staggered string of moments of uncertainty. after a lifetime of certain satisfaction, the ambiguity of his current existence was shocking but accepted. his wife & children & a few pals gathered around, hoping to help him find comfort in a way that everyone was comfortable with. most of the day, he was either sleeping or “resting his eyes” but mornings were still a time for activity. batteries of tests followed by largely liquid breakfasts. early visiting hours with more & more flowers. occasional flourishes of energy & laughter. after all this change in circumstance, he still remained the center of attention.
