this morning #696.
this morning, her fragile frame came crashing down, smashing into the water at an unfortunate angle, a tangle of limbs. from clear across the quarry, we’d watched her leap off the ledge. at first, she seemed sort of unsure of herself, standing there near the edge for a good ten minutes before finally taking the plunge. now, as the foam below us began to settle, we waited to see if she was ok, especially after the disturbing way she’d landed. when she surfaced, she launched up out of the water with a furious burst. from way up here, it was hard to tell whether she felt lucky to be alive or disappointed that she hadn’t died. her screams didn’t clarify much.
