this morning #497.

this morning, as the bicycles whizzed past her in packs, she kept up a light jog, making sure to stay in her lane & not get run over. why’d they have to go so darn fast? ever since she added this easy exercise to her morning routine, she’d watched the number of bikers grow & grow to a point where she saw them less as fellow park patrons & more as a potential health hazard. eventually, her route would veer away from the bikers & she’d find herself safely out of harm’s way, gliding along a forest path dotted with chirping birds, giving her sixty-seven-year-old body the peaceful, workout in nature that it so sorely needed. on days where she skipped it, she felt defeated.
