this morning #496.

this morning, it was finally flannel season again so he pulled on his favorite american eagle super soft flannel & carried his cup of coffee out to the stoop to have his first cigarette of the day. it was a blue & black-checkered number that his daughter got for him a couple of christmases ago, following up on persistent pleas for him to “pretty please throw out that raggedy-ass flannel.” said maligned garment did not end up in the trash. instead, it was stashed in a foot locker full of weathered memories from the 80’s, tokens of his late teens & early twenties. it now mingled with items like a faded tee from the dead’s 1989 hampton shows & a yearbook kept intact by duct tape.
