this morning #438.

this morning, she spooned sugar onto everything laid out before her. a clip for the coffee cup. a sip. brightening the dull edges of her failing friendships. a sprinkling on her cereal. sweetening her miniscule job prospects. mixed in with butter & cinnamon atop golden brown toast. enhancing her taste in men. whitening the bowl of sliced strawberries. a candy-coat covering up her health struggles. her doctor & therapist had both recommended cutting back. the case against sugar made a solid argument. without its enhancement, all that was left was the ennui that lay underneath. that thought had kept her habit alive for a while but she knew her time was up. she had to start facing life as it is.
