this morning #437.
this morning, as the lines began to blur, the bittersweet beginning of the long goodbye fell into focus. while watching his father brush off his inability to recall his own son’s date of birth, he flashed back to the many ways they’d celebrated his birthday over the years. there was the failed fishing expedition, when his first attempt at casting resulted in the gift of a scar. a number of times, they sat right along the third base line at kauffman stadium & once even got a birthday message up on the jumbotron. in later years, they bonded over beers. all these moments they shared showed his dad cared. after all, it was also his birthday.
