this morning #351.

this morning, though he found himself far out in the cool calm of the country, pretending to be content & composed, he was starting to act as if he was still in the heart of the city, refusing to slow his roll. in the months since he’d arrived here, he’d gone from basking in the sun to lashing out at neighbors in a way that wasn’t a bit neighborly. maybe moving here had been a mistake. he didn’t take kindly to gossip & when their words reached his ears, it set off a chain of events that accelerated his rapid departure. this morning’s offense was against the owner of the town diner, an older woman who was moving too slow for his tastes. he acted like he didn’t have all day. he definitely did.
