this morning #350.

this morning, all the balls were now rolling & she knew she’d have to deftly spring into action & try to catch as many of them as possible before they fell to the ground & left her picking up the pieces. it wasn’t clear why this was her responsibility but she knew that the second she second-guessed her plight, matters might get worse. it wasn’t as if one of her siblings was going to miraculously step in & help prop her up. they weren’t helping now & that wasn’t going to change. mere minutes after her mom’s last shallow breaths, she sat solo by the hospital bed & took a few deep breaths. the staff pulled a concealing curtain around daughter & mother and gave them a moment.
