this morning #244.

this morning, a light tap on the front door gradually grew into a primal pounding, shocking him out of his sleep. the simultaneous shouting then came into focus & he grabbed his shotgun from below the bed, knowing what awaited him just outside his home. alone out here in the hills, he had grown accustomed to avoiding others. it was the whole reason he had started hiding out here soon after last year’s incident. it pained him that he’d have to shoot this man on this porch. they had once been thick as thieves but then their thievery drove a large wedge between them. blasting him full of buckshot through the front door would effectively end their friendship.
