this morning #2238.

this morning, expectations were quite high. i’d intentionally set them that way. when they asked me for my honest opinion, i made sure to smile nice & wide. told them that we needn't worry. not even a little bit. WE. GOT. THIS. wrote those three words up on the whiteboard. underlined them with passion. laid out my grand vision & when i was finished, i let out a whoop. started to clap & they all joined in, swept up in my excitement. in that instant, they were fully on my side. believed in my leadership. not gonna lie. their shared emotion felt pretty nice. i thanked them. took a seat & gave the managers a chance to talk. can’t recall a single thing that they said. at the end of the meeting, i walked out still riding that high but also wishing that i hadn’t had to lie.
