this morning #1939.
this morning, intoxicated by matters of the heart, he asked her if she was ready to be completely honest with him. ten days of pondering for a five-second question. instead of instantly answering, she ran both her hands through her hair & got up from the table to pour herself another cup of coffee. with her back turned to him, she let an unassured “sure” slip out. then a coarse “of course.” sat back down. startled by her own tone. he let her response wash over him & took out his phone. began reading from a prepared speech. she let him speak. teary-eyed accusations & all. by the time he was done, she knew she had no other option. she would have to be dishonest about her pledge to be completely honest with him.
