this morning #1938.

this morning, the sharp sounds of overly inquisitive kids had him on edge. he’d come here for the quiet environment. the promise of peace. always considered this a perfect place to get away from the relentless chaos of the everyday. aghast that these shrill kids’ mothers felt it was ok to bring them here. kid: “MOM. MOM. MOM!” answer: “yes, dear.” kid: high-pitched nonsense paused only due to the need to breathe. screed delivered with piercing laughs sprinkled in between. pure blather. how can he possibly work in this atmosphere? how long can this go on? as long as the moms wanted to talk, he supposed. he thought about asking them to lower their voices. just a smidge. for him. he didn’t. stewed for the next hour instead.
