this morning, we all shut our eyes & silently listened as she prayed for world peace, said a few choice words—five minutes worth—in support of our cosmic serenity. about a minute in, my mind began to wander. i wondered if all these prayers actually do a damn thing. i like to believe that they do but when it comes to world peace, i mean…c’mon. they haven’t been working so far. how is this particular plea going to be any different? if i had my way, i’d focus our energy on praying for individual inner peace. most of the time, that’s a much more manageable goal. maybe we should try to achieve that first. work on reforming humanity from the inside out. enough of this nonsense. i got up & walked out.
