this morning #796.

this morning, there was some sort of subtle, rumbling thump coming from somewhere deep within the building. one moment, it felt like the source was a few floors below but then i came to think that it might be coming from above. i popped my head out into the hallway & learned that i wasn’t the only concerned tenant. folks were flowing out of their apartments, communing around the sound. the hermit in 6B swore it was a godzilla but most of us thought it was a problem with the pipes, a sign of an issue with the boiler way down in the basement, an omen of an impending explosion. with no better explanation, i had to agree with them. to be safe, i decided to flee with them.
