this morning #564.
this morning, even with adjusting for pandemic inflation, they’d still gained quite a bit of weight over the past twenty-one months. at first, having to take care of their mom brought the two of them closer but, over time, the load became increasingly harder to handle. since some time around their high school days, they hadn’t seen eye to eye with mom on most things. ambition. politicians. sentimentality. sexuality. all of these topics were ripe for conflict and, for a while, they put them to the side & focused on the tasks at hand. keeping the house in order. ordering supplies. catering to new dietary needs. driving mom to the doctor. when mom’s criticisms returned, shit got way too heavy.
