this morning, when he showed up at her house for their monthly book swap, he did his best to play it cool. as a general rule, every four weeks they would meet up & present each other with a surprise title. up until now, this event had always taken place in public. this time, he’d been invited over, his first intro to her personal domain. once inside, he tried to hide his excitement. her taste in books had helped him fall for her & he’d decided she needed to know. as he sat on the couch, ready to tell all, she came into the room with a hardcover in her hand, paused, removed the cover & placed it on a table. with this, he realized their relationship was not what he’d thought, so he kept his crush to himself.
