this morning, the full fake out was in full swing & by keeping the whole debacle under wraps, she’d be able to buy a little extra time while the paint dried. as soon as her father was off to the office, she sprung into action & pulled the truck back behind the house. with a frantic phone call & veiled threat, her best friend was on his way over with his tools. by some stroke of luck, the footlong scratch on the truck’s cab had somehow evaded her dad’s eagle-eyed observations. her ingenious distraction had won the day & kept him away from her major screwup. it wouldn’t be long until her next major screwup came along though & when it did, she wouldn’t have enough time to distract anyone.
