this morning #446.
this morning, with his two sons & their respective families arriving in an hour or so, there was still much to be done. he was well aware that a widower’s life can be a messy affair. in his case, the mess was mostly external & his month-long refusal to take visitors meant said detritus could just pile up as he pleased. on the inside, he believed that he had things buttoned down. while he was experiencing frequent feelings of emptiness, taking a month to process had helped fill some of that up. that isn’t what his sons would see though. they’d look at him with pithy pity, unaware that while he wasn’t hoping it’d happen this way, he’d been looking for a way out of his marriage since the very early days.
