this morning, coincidence caught her off guard as she sat in the drive-thru waiting for a crew of teenagers to assemble her breakfast. as she pulled up to the second window, a single sign amongst many in a single store window across the street spoke to her. it showed a smiling family on the deck of a cruise ship with the words “return to the sea” featured loud & proud. all of the sudden, she was back on the ocean with her family, as they had been two years ago this day. she flashed back to the last moment she saw her teenage daughter, imploring her to put on sunscreen, unaware that she would soon plummet over the side of the boat & into the water.
