this morning, the effects of climate change were clear, as the mood in her happy home had gone from sunny to toxic. she didn’t want to pin the atmospheric shift on her teenage daughter, but it was clearly her fault. somewhere along the way, her hippie hands-off parenting style had become ineffective against all the outbursts & reckless behavior. the leash was too long for a child so headstrong. in crept the drugs & the booze & for all that she knew, her once-innocent offspring was off giving handjobs to halfbacks. it was time to tighten the reins. she was a grown-ass woman & there was no way she was going to continue letting someone half her age run things.
