this morning, according to her longtime partner’s words from a few weeks back, today she was going to be treated to a “birthday blowout fit for a queen!” she had doubts about the veracity of this statement. in her younger years, it would’ve been easier to ignore such repeatedly overpromised promises. after last year’s spectacular debacle though, something substantial inside her had flipped & she now demanded more of him. words backed up by actions. if she had her way, there would be no repeat performance to ruin her special day, especially not from the man she loved. never in a million years did she expect that he’d forget her birthday entirely. expectations are funny like that.
