this morning #2313.

this morning, since i’d woken up way earlier than usual, i chose to fill that time with a random episode of the golden girls. the one where blanche, dorothy & rose get arrested for prostitution because they mistakenly booked a room at a brothel that they thought was a hotel & get caught up in a raid. as a result, their plans to attend a movie premiere & after-party with burt reynolds are ruined. sophia, who’s been left out of the girls’ plans, visits them in jail. out of spite, instead of bailing them out, she takes one of their tickets & attends the event by herself, meeting burt reynolds in the process. i hadn’t seen it since it first aired way back in ‘86, when i was in my teens. forty years later, i’m struck by the way i can now relate to the sitcom world of women in their mid-fifties.
