this morning #2253.

this morning, they were the first ones who dropped by to pay their respects. all four of them came. if i’m being honest, i hadn't imagined that a single solitary one of them would show up. they had though so i had no other option but to welcome them in. they’re family, after all. oh how they’ve aged. ripened. how long had it been? since 2003, i think. must’ve been around then. around when our daughter graduated from high school. now that i think about it, part of me knew that they’d be here. she always got along great with them. better than i ever did. that’s for sure. i could never understand it. it makes sense that they’d resurface now though. they probably figured that, now that’s she’s passed on, it’s better to say goodbye way too late than to never do so at all.
