this morning #2150.

this morning, no one told her to do it but she still did. in the first hour that she was awake, this overwhelming feeling came over her. it was like, up until that very moment, there were opaque layers of schmutz caked onto the windshield. once the wipers were turned on, they swiftly swept aside the state of isolation she’d been living in. it dawned on her. she was part of a society. she’d gone to the front window & parted the drapes to gaze out at the perfect brownstone street she lived on. an old man stood out there. solo on the sidewalk. confused. aloof? looking all around. in need of help? she put on her robe & went outside. when he saw her, his face lit up with an excited “HI!” he went in for a hug. she let it happen. it was fine.
