this morning #208.
this morning, he investigated his investigatory tactics for fatal flaws. in all of the chaos, something small had slipped past his defenses & left him unprotected. cracking the case of how it’d happened would now take up most of his energy. in all his time in this respected profession, his peers had looked at him with envious eyes. now they’d blink when they saw him, question his credibility. above all, integrity was all that he had. without it, he was just a middle-aged man with a limp who had totally dropped the ball. now another family was dead & he was to blame. the weight of that pressed down on him like an elephant’s ass. the past had just come home to haunt him.
