this morning, this ordinary morning, this morning with its sunshine & blue cloudless skies showed absolutely no sign of what was to come. i’m not sure what i’d expected. it’s not like bad days are required to warn of their imminent arrival with ominous clouds & cold grey skies. left my house for work. caught the bus at the end of the block. no seats. a child screaming. then another. the lurching of the bus made me want to throw up. i got off at my stop & was instantly met with more discord. a couple at the stop in the throes of a fiery dispute. next thing i knew, a cop car came rolling up. the man fled. one cop rushed past & knocked me to the ground. not sure what happened after that. the paramedics said that i hit my head.
