this morning #1923.

this morning, before the kids got on the bus for school, we placed a quick video call to mom. even though there are many time zones between us, i’ve always tried to make sure that she & the kids are in constant contact if only for a brief phone call a few times a week. when she first answered, everything seemed fine but i quickly became convinced that something was off. as my daughter laid out each & every detail of the presentation she was giving in science class today, mom kept looking off-screen. kept responding with hollow wows. way more than usual. if she was listening, it wasn’t sinking in. ten minutes later, when we said bye, i walked the kids to the stop. sent them off. called mom again as soon as i got back home.
