this morning #1859.
this morning, while he sat inside sipping his coffee & listening to NPR, the jagged summer sounds of children rose & fell just outside his house. he didn’t mind when they played in his yard. this particular strain of kid was totally harmless compared to the hoodlums he had to deal with when he lived in the city. those city kids would eat these suburban geeks alive. hell, the bullies around here couldn’t even handle them. it’s simply a matter of tactics. it’s one thing to act tough. it’s a whole other thing to have been toughened up on a daily basis. always ready to attack or fight back. the tweens tossing a football around on his front lawn knew nothing of that. until the day that they did, he was fine with just letting them be.
