this morning, a star was born. “reluctant star,” he’d say from this day forth for years to come in an offhand way that most of the world only partially believed. how can he not appreciate the attention society gives him? it’s not just about his achingly good looks, though lots of folks like to focus on that. it’s more about how he makes us feel when he speaks to us. the silk in his voice. his choice of words. off the cuff but clear enough to seem like they’ve been rehearsed. practiced to the point of perfection. done for our benefit. all because today he decided to go online & say what was on his mind. speak his truth. no notion that that truth would spread beyond his friends & leave him with a sudden, public way to get stuff off his chest.
