this morning #1814.
this morning, right near the entrance to baggage claim, he waited. eyes fixed on the arrival board. roses in one hand & a handwritten sign in the other. like what a driver waiting for a pickup would have. big, bold letters. POOKIE. a nickname he’d given her & she’d accepted. his heart leapt. her plane had actually landed. he took out his phone. checked his hair once more. waited ten or so minutes & then there she was. eyes searching as she walked right in his direction. then it clicked & she hurried toward him, smile wide enough to hide how tired she was. she knocked the sign from his hand & pulled him in close. they accidentally bonked noses. morphed it into a long, overwrought kiss. this was how their reunion would begin.
