this morning #1773.

this morning, after yesterday’s fifteen hours straight of rain, i was itching to get outside & see what remained of the sites we’d been studying. the first one we visited was highly unrecognizable. dozens of downed trees. scores of strewn leaves. the river running through it was now creeping up the sides of the valley, gaining speed. the second site, at one time quite dry, sucked up all that water & now held it in, like a sponge waiting to be wrung out. we visited four more but the last one we went to was the only one left mostly intact. for now, it looks like we’ll have to focus our efforts there until we choose new spots to study. the old ones might recover but time is money & we have no time to waste.

go back to the beginning.
