this morning #1772.
this morning, when we all awoke to thunder claps & a drastic downpour, there wasn’t a whole lot that we could do other than hide inside & wait while our living quarters began to shake & sheets of water streamed past the windows. a storm of biblical proportions, the sort we haven’t yet seen in our time here. luckily, the forecast had warned that a storm front was coming, so we had time to plan ahead & collect all the soil samples we need in case the landscape changes. glad that we did. it’s noon & it’s still raining. by the time it stops, at least one of the sites we’re studying will be pure puddles & mud. perfect breeding ground for mosquitos. i see it as a sign that it’s probably time for the team to move on to something new.
