this morning, he paid his respects. that was expected. he dressed in a jacket & tie and saluted himself in the hall mirror on his way to the kitchen. today, with the rest of the nation, he’d pay tribute. it was his duty as a patriotic american. first stop: the freezer, for a gourmet pint of vanilla. second stop: the refrigerator, with its varied syrups & fresh cherries. third stop: the cabinet, with its chopped walnuts & rainbow jimmies. they all came together in breakfast bliss. he sat down at his kitchen table & said a little prayer. it was just a little one…& with that, he looked down at his divinely designed dessert & kicked off national sundae day like a boss.
