this morning #129.

this morning, the pitter-patter of little feet didn’t have the same effect that it used to. for some reason, her children’s steps now rumbled like dinosaur stomps. their laughter sounded like screams. growing up, her mother would get her to play games of hide & seek that inevitably ended with her crawling out of her hiding spot hours later to find her mom sitting on the couch watching tv. she was seriously considering employing the same tactic as she watched her son bolt past & knock his sister down with a cross-check. without considering the fallout, she jumped from her chair, knocking him to the floor right next to his sister. for the next ten minutes, they all cried together.
