this morning #1271.

this morning, laid off & fancy free to chart my own destiny, i decided to get out of the house for a change. arrived at the museum before it’d even opened. me, a woman in a pinstripe blazer & an elderly couple waited patiently in a superfluous line for the doors to open. when they finally did, we had the place to ourselves. at first, at least. we seemed to spread out. i hurried to the south wing, hoping for some time alone with my favorite painting. my footsteps echoed down the hallway, the only sound. for now, i was the master of this single space inside of this single museum. in front of my favorite painting, i felt focus. calm. me & the art in an empty room. no other humans there to ruin the mood.
