this morning, just look at them over there, all queued up like good little consumers. eagerly anticipating their impending purchases. wallets at the ready. vile hype. from my bench in the park across the street, i was eyeing the line with contempt. sad sad sneakerhead slaves. don’t they get that sneaker culture is nothing more than capitalism disguised as art? go ahead. spend your money on your pretend status. believe in these celebrity corporation fever dreams all you want. at the end of the day, your worship is misplaced. i’d rather direct my hard-earned cash toward something meaningful. something that’s not just some placeholder for the next thing. something not so damn fake.
