this morning #990.

this morning, while my sweetie was off in the other room baking bread, i laid in bed working on my next book. a baker. a writer. we couldn’t be whiter but we were trying to expand our horizons. at this very instant, she’s making agege—a nigerian white bread—for the first time. after seeing a recipe in the ny times, she had to give it a shot. this next book, if i can ever get it finished, will be my multicultural masterpiece. i’m not above listening to my critics. at first, when one of them called my last book “white men talking about white stuff,” i took offense. once i had a chance to chill out, the wife & i reflected a bit, agreed that we needed to check our privilege & add a little color to our lives this year.
