this morning #978.

this morning, i put on a light jacket & took my cup of coffee out to the back porch to survey the damage from last night. it was about what i expected. the sulphur smell of fireworks still hung in the air. tire tracks cut across the bottle-strewn lawn. mud patches everywhere. TORN UP. a scorch from the fire had advanced way beyond the confines of the fire pit, right up to the edge of the shed. bunch of animals. no respect. it’s my fault though. i knew who they were when i told them to stop by, plied them with beverage after beverage. egged them on. didn’t play along but didn’t stop the shenanigans. when it comes down to it, the mess they made is ultimately a mess of my own making.
