this morning #921.

this morning, the siren song just outside my window was anything but alluring. persistent police & ambulance sounds echoed all around at all hours of the day, a consistent fixture of the colorful crime that gave my hood its reputation. at times, i could block out the screeches but in times of traffic, times like right now, ambulance sirens drove me nuts as they devolved into a static pulse right in front of my building. they desperately tried to drive the drivers to the side while someone in the back was likely dying of a heart attack. the vibrations filled my ears, a din that dragged on until the vehicle finally made it through. i exhaled but knew it wouldn’t be long until another annoyance came along.
