this morning #868.

this morning, shards of sunlight shone down through the holes in the tree canopy, specking the cold forest floor with little bits of warmth. i let her nose lead us through the light & down the trail. so far, her snout had proven to be remarkably reliable. i’d let her let it drag me behind her on the end of a leash across miles of beach. we’d tracked many rabbits down many paths for no reason other than that’s where the scent went. it was part of a trend. truth be told, i wasn’t in control of very much these days. i was mostly floating & flailing. no plan. set on letting life lead me wherever. if it was my favorite companion who was doing the leading, so be it. she seemed to at least have a goal.
