this morning #815.

this morning, my own snarled snoring had worn down my dreams to a fine point & i was finally stirred from my sleep, sweating & swirling, not yet sure which world i was in. the window shades all around me were drawn tight. no light to help me make out my surroundings. my heart’s pounding the only sound in the room. i threw the covers aside & stood up, feeling my way through the dark towards the light switch across the room. when i made it there & flipped it on, this girl i’d briefly dated in high school was standing silent in the corner of the room. once my shock subsided, we locked eyes & to my surprise, she morphed into my mother. that was enough to ACTUALLY shake me out of my sleep.
