this morning #808.

this morning, it was hotter than hell in the house so i scooped up my well-worn bible & took it out to the porch, where there was at least a bit of a breeze to ease the heat as it trickled in through the screens. i took my seat in the corner & turned to the book of isaiah. eventually, i came to chapter 4, verse 6. β€œand there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” as soon as i finished reading that sentence, the clouds darkened. the heavens spilled forth sheets of rain. all at once, the porch became both my shadow & my refuge. all at once, i knew there was something bigger going on.
