this morning #793.
this morning, because i’d decided to smile at every person i passed on the street, i came into contact with a short mortician out for a stroll. his response to my “good morn” was quite lopsided. he stopped me with a question that ballooned into a full-blown lesson. turns out he had a lot to get off his chest about american burial practices. he’d dealt in death for decades, much of it spent in subtle interaction with grieving friends & families. it was obvious that he was starved for TRUE human connection. my smile marked me as the urn into which he would pour his elaborate theory about how, because its citizens had finally started to embrace cremation, america was finally starting to evolve.
