this morning #763.

this morning, if someone in this house doesn’t get down on their knees STAT & thank me for everything i’ve done to bring them up in a proper environment, it’s really going to bring me down for the rest of the day. the husband. the kids. they’ve been taking me for granted lately. all someone has to do is not look straight through me for once, say the words “i appreciate you.” i really relish the low-key power that phrase provides. i’d recently heard one black woman say it to one of our local coffee shop’s baristas. she’s also black. from that point forth, i swore to make those words a part of my life. not appropriation, of course. more like homage. for most of my life, most of the thanks seemed so fake.
