this morning #614.

this morning, she rubbed her eyes & slapped at her cheeks with much more gusto than usual, pathetic proof that her repeated neglect of sleep was finally getting to her. she let out a scream to center herself. then came the stream of tears, brought on by the thought of having to leave the house & pretend to be a fully functioning member of society. other members of that society were counting on her to give them her best & she knew she was giving them less. it was stressful to know that no matter how much effort she had to offer, it often wasn’t enough to keep people happy. in the midst of her crying fit, it slowly dawned on her. in order to take care of others she first had to take care of herself.
