this morning #607.
this morning, the generation gap had widened into a grand canyon, a majestic monument miles wide between he & his son, much like the divide that’d developed between he & his father decades earlier. the farther he grew apart from his own offspring, the harder it became to believe he had anything meaningful to offer. he had informed ideas about everything from music to municipal issues but they were better suited for a simpler time. he’d raised his son to be open-minded & progressive but had no idea just how open-minded & progressive he’d become. by comparison, his son’s views on policing, capitalism & a range of other topics made him feel like a straight-up republican.
