this morning #594.
this morning, when he stepped to the lectern to address his class of journalism students for what would turn out to be the final time, he had no idea that he’d end up committing an offense so flagrant that the internet would lose its collective shit by lunchtime. today’s topic: euphemisms vs the truth. in his opinion, when reporters replaced offensive words with euphemisms, they lessened the impact of the stories they were trying to tell. to make his point, he offered up a few examples, fully free of candy-coating. a few students whipped out their phones, captured his words & shared them with the world. devoid of context, it was more than enough to cost him his job.
