this morning #588.
this morning, an awkward encounter with the out-of-work founder of what was once dubbed “one of the most promising new businesses” in their suburban town had left him shaken. back in the mid-2000s, he’d worked for this man. eventually the whole operation went off the rails and now, after not seeing his former boss for fifteen years, they’d bumped into each other in a supermarket parking lot. at first, he didn’t even recognize the long-haired boomer standing before him & once he did, he wasn’t sure it was safe to shake his hand. there was a strong “communicable disease” vibe but he shook it anyway. a half hour later, he’d learned the “why” & spent most of his day feeling bad for the guy.
